I was 110% not expecting that result. Never in a million years could I have imagined. The most I could muster up upon messaging my family back home was “uhhhhh…” and “uhhhhhhhhhh…” Welp. I don’t even want to waste more time on it, ugh. 2016-2020 is officially canceled.
In the time between when I posted last, I came down with an interesting…predicament. To make a long story short, upon waking up one Saturday, a lot of things about my right were off. The first two doctors said it was sudden hearing loss and that recovery sometimes just doesn’t happen… I took steroids and got better for ONE day. Got a referral to go to a big facility and the doc there said it could be Meniere’s disease since it comes can goes. I’ve experienced no vertigo symptoms, so I was, and still am, super confused about it all. The meds I was prescribed was a ridiculous amount of bitter syrup tubes. Right now I’m taking a 2-week break, hopefully by the next time I see the doctor my ear will still be fine.
And on to happier things—
She’s so easily distracted
Halloween was very uneventful. I wasn’t feeling the Halloween spirit this year; it just kinda came and went. My friends and I got to do a bit of people watching in Amemura, and I was able to eat some Halloween-themed cake.
Hair Growth Update!!!
After doing the big chop about two years ago, I can say that the length is finally getting to where I want it to be. Unfortunately, the shrinkage is real.
And my diet? The thing I’ve been struggling the entire year over? Ugh… just when I start getting a few compliments, the ear thing I mentioned earlier decides to happen… So I ended up eating more than I would have had I not had to take that medicine.
Making it to Christmas with no more days eating out like this is my current goal. I should not be spending $20-$40 on dinner…especially when it’s not steak or lobster! Not to mention I’m sure that after breakfast and lunch, a 1500 calorie meal with coworkers just isn’t worth it in the end.
I visited Korea from March 23rd to the 27th with one of my best friends. It was her 4th time and my second time going to Seoul. We stayed in Hyehwa at a little hostel she really likes.
I was really excited to shop for cosmetics and eat food you can’t really find in Japan. Most shopping was done in Myeongdong since it has all the stores concentrated together. Prices have gone up since the last time I was there and since the yen is so weak it was hard to go as crazy as I wanted to. Shopping was fun but also kind of stressful. For one thing, people are kind of pushy… no one says excuse me. Store clerks lure you in and then follow you like a shadow silently until you buy something then they just disappear. There’s more but, basically, customer service varies a lot from store to store.
We met up with my friend’s very kind friend and he helped us out a bunch. He taught us some words and it’s interesting since there are some words that are the same or very similar to Japanese.
Street food was amazing, as usual. I wish Japan had street food like it, the kind that comes and goes. The only thing I see in Osaka is old guys selling roasted sweet potatoes.
First blog of the year! The end of 2014 has been a really rough one but things have calmed down a lot since then. It’s very strange how fast everything happened and how my boyfriend’s brother isn’t here anymore… Instead of constant sadness everyone is focusing on all the good memories and kind words from friends and family.
It snowed on the 1st, then later the high school soccer team, that a former classmate participated in, won two games. There were lots of kind messages left on the dad’s blog. Little things so far have been working out for the better.
With that being said I’ll go into my usual type of blog.
*sudden theme change…*
EDIT when I read from here on it seems so shallow. I’m not good at going from dark to happy in one post. Didn’t feel like leaving out the above info and didn’t feel like making two separate posts.
It’s been a really long time since I did my nails at a salon. At the time I really didn’t want to do it myself. I found a good deal on hotpepper for 3900 yen.
They look really beautiful and sparkly under certain lighting. I’m happy with them.
Apparently taking the crazy nails off is going to be a hassle so I’ll go back to the same lady in a couple weeks and get a whole new design that doesn’t include a million stones. After that I’ll stick to doing gel nails by myself.
Skip forward to a few days ago, I went shopping in Umeda with a friend and decided to purchase some LUSH products for the first time ever! They had a few items that were on sale for 50% off. Usually one of their bathbombs cost around 760… That’s a lot of money for one bath… I have no idea. But for half that price? I can do that and at the same time end up, hopefully, supporting a company I think is pretty good.
Christmas item on sale. Doesn’t matter with all that nice glitter.
For most of my winter break I’ve been away from my apartment. Spent a night over at a friend’s house and decided to use her convenient full body mirror.
We went to H&M and I had the solid proof that I had gained quite a bit of weight in the past couple of months. BACK ROLLS. Immediately I decided to get the ball rolling by giving up cheese curls and soda. This is a small part of how I got to this state. I need to get back into Jillian Michael’s 30 day shred like before and just make a few dietary adjustments. Did it last year and can do it again.
Finally, I was given this after all the rushing around was done. It was his other brother’s idea. Don’t really have a surface to place it on so it’ll go on my wall. I’m very grateful.
I’ll post more about what’s going on in future posts.. Good news!
